“You know, we’re lucky to escape with our lives.” Zenn said, throwing his cigarette but down onto the floor outside the Dukes building. “Well…” he continued, turning to Kitten. “…I’m lucky to escape with my life, you’re lucky to continue receiving lollypops.”

“Is blue.” She said, continuing to grin happily at the reflection of a blue stain hovering in the air where she imagined her tongue would be.

Zenn grinned. Kitten’s constant childish behaviour was always entertaining to Zenn, and her transitions between sweet and innocent to brutal killer always kept the kindred on his toes.

“As blue as it is, it’s not all that important to the current situation.” He smiled to the pouting little vampire girl, who could rip him apart in a heartbeat, and patted her shoulder. “We’ve been given a new mission, one that allows you to kill all and any who stand in our way.”

Kitten’s ears perked up, or they would have had she been an actual kitten. She enjoyed the blood shed. She had a bloodlust that could only be quenched by two things, one, death, killing and murder, or two, lollypops. “What are we going to do?” she asked, a little less child like.

“Seriously, were you paying attention at all during that briefing or just staring into your mirror at your clothes and the blue stain on your tongue?” Zenn asked, a little exasperated, but mostly joking. He was used to it.

Kitten looked sheepishly down at the mirror in her hand, but then brightened up again as the blue stain emerged from her reflection-less mouth. The pair of vampires stopped at the edge of the Duke’s complex and looked out at the street. “I’ll explain in the car.” Zenn agreed, deciding to drive rather than bus it.

“Car?” Kitten repeated, perking up again. “Can I drive?”

Zenns eyes rolled over the silver beat up car, still trailing part of the fence that surrounded the Duke’s complex and then took in a breath. “Perhaps next time.” He said, with as little fear for his life as he could muster. “This time, we need to get there as quietly as possible.”

“Fair enough” Kitten conceded, “I do make an awful racket when I drive. The screaming pedestrians alone would notify… who is it?”

“The Wolfpack.” Zenn answered

Kitten raised her eyebrows, she had not been expecting such targets. Clearly she was psyching up for more Vampire killing. “We’re killing werewolves?” She asked, a little concerned, most likely for their safety rather than her own.

Zenn nodded. “Only to show our strength.” He said. “We’re attempting to form an alliance in the upcoming battle with the Chectla. We can either ally with the Wolf Pack, or simply let the Chectla come in, kill all non vampire demonics and fight them alone.” Zenn stepped forwards as a black Ford Mondeo with tinted windows pulled up beside them, and the not-quite-vampire human that was doing valet for the duke stepped out, leaving the keys in the ignition and the engine running. Zenn nodded to the valet and sat in the car.

Kitten appeared a moment later in the passenger seat, strapping herself in, ready to go. “It’s actually a good plan, I have to give the Duke that much. Join forces with lesser demons and use them as fodder to the Chectla. Saves the Vampires strength for when it’s needed.”

“I like the wolfies, their fun to pet.” Kitten interjected, adding her usual does of… sanity into the mix.

“Yes, that’s the important thing to remember here, their coats are warm and fluffy.” Zenn rolled his eyes and buckled in.

The front of the vampires car caved in the second the two entered the territory of the wolf. A black and grey ware-wolf stood holding onto the window of the car from where the engine of the car should have been had the wolf not crushed it to the concrete when it landed on the car’s bonnet.

“It seems we’ve arrived.” Zenn said, frowning. “And to such a warm welcome.”

Kitten’s fangs bared momentarily at the surprise but were quickly returned to their holsters to be replaced by fascinated eyes as she forced herself not to try and pet the wolf. The terrifying vampire settled for staring and sucking on the most recent in a long line of lollypops, green this time.

“Be Gone from here or die!” The worlds friendliest Ware-Wolf growled, somehow communicating human speech through that mongrel snout.

“I’m warning you wolf.” Zenn said, opening the door and getting out of the car. “My friend here is very fond of Wolf coats, and she is resisting the urge to pet you because I asked her not to. If you do not let us pass I will be forced to let her pet you… and Kitten doesn’t pet nice.” The wolf’s eyes shot to Kitten, who had stepped out of the car. A note of fear in his expression told Zenn that the wolf knew Kitten, or at least her reputation.

“Wolfie, wolfie, wolfie…” she sang as she looked the black and grey wolf up and down. “Warm and fluffy.” She said matter of factly.

The wolf growled and released the now useless car. “Fine… your funeral.” It said, leaping out of the engine space and beginning it’s walk back home.
